I knocked down my first bull elk this year on my second year of hunting. I took the Elk101 course last year, but was still completely lost. I had to pair it with actual field experience, and this year was amazing! We got into a bugle fest within the first hour of the hunt, had 4-5 bulls responding each day, called in 6 different bulls, and finally got an arrow in one on day 5. One thing I learned, was to constantly check your equipment. At one point, I had slipped and busted my bow sight. I found out the hard way on a 6x6 that I called in. I missed by a mile and found that my mounts on my sight were busted. I went on a wild goose chase finding a sight and getting dialed in, then got back into the mountains and got back into em.
