freezing in the Mojave desert.  it failed me.  i believe i have the FLASH model.  it will only turn up to about 25% power.  i think the valve broke or something.

i tested it with a buddies fuel and stove, and it is clearly my stove.  the piezo lighter thing NEVER worked reliably.  with 25% fuel, it is unlightable.

new stove time.
contenders.  MSR Reactor or Windburner.  Optimus Electra FE.

i do mostly boil water, but the occasional random food cooking would be awesome as an option.

Pic of tits please [emoji12][emoji12]
In all seriousness I and several buddies have them and have no issues we?ve had some 10 yrs that still work

I never had one. Just couldn't justify $100 bucks to boil water. I ran into a forest service trail crew once that was fixing breakfast. One of them had a jetboil and the others all had various other types. Three of the guys had already eaten and were getting their gear ready to leave while the one with the jetboil was still trying to get hers lit up. I know a bunch of guys love them but s--t happens to all of them at one time or another I suppose!

Have you contacted them to see if they can look at it?
Like Bill said, I know a bunch of guys who use them and have never had issues.
You just may be that 1% who had a fluke....

I had one do something similar this Fall. Ended up being a piece of dirt or trash in the valve body. Since the lighter didn't work on mine either I stripped the wire to a point and used it to clean the pin hole in the valve then blew it out and it's worked fine on a couple of trips since. Push the burner towards the valve body and twist and it should come apart for you. After that I think it was just the bolt with the pin hole and a typical valve.

i'll try this!!  i assume twist counterclockwise..right?

Ditch the jetboil and get either a reactor or windboiler. I have all of them and the MSR stoves are a big improvement over the jetboil. People complain that the MSR's don't have a piezo, but if you're not carrying a lighter or metal match with you into the woods, I'm not sure what you're doing.

If I'm hunting solo I bring the windboiler, and I bring the reactor when I have the family with or need water for 2.

I actually have gone through a couple Jetboils and my lighter has gone out, and had issues with fuel flow in all seasons.  And as well know plenty who have no issues with them. When I contacted Jetboil if I recall they said at colder temps and for melting snow it puts more (naturally) wear and tear on the internals and be known have issues.  They said it was more of a 3 season, "decent" weather stove.  I've used mine in 10-15deg weather ice fishing in a warm hut and didn't seem to have anything bad to say.  I just used the hell out of mine.  Anyone know of a life expectancy?

I actually opted for a SnowPeak backpacking stove (comparable to pocket rocket MSR) with a potsetup to hold enough water to boil 4-5 cups of water, enough for two mountain houses.  It will reduce fuel consumption and pack weight for extra fuel is ultralight is the name of the game.  My pot isn't titanium, but it is really light.

I do like the MSR stoves but I was looking to put more cash into a pack replacement this year and a new puffy so I went with a solid stove and pot that I can use for family hikes etc when I choose, IF i choose, to upgrade later in years to come.

Boom, We have several MSR stoves. One of my go to review sources is the Outdoor Gear Lab https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/camping-and-hiking/best-backpacking-stove
I use them and other resources when checking on outdoor gear.

so this is not as high end as an MSR or a JetBoil, but stay with me here. It simply works phenomenally and is ridiculously cheap.

I posted the amazon link here to the Etekcity backpack stove I bought. It works so good its stupid. I will maybe at some point go to something bigger and more expensive, but not until I can find a compelling reason. This thing is $11 and weighs less than a lighter and doesn't need one. give it a look. For that money, you should just buy one to try it or have a backup to your expensive stove... Fits the same canisters.

I've used MSR, Coleman, and JetBoil stoves on backcountry trips...if you're just boiling water you can't go wrong with any of them...but I'd get another JetBoil if it were me.  Little to no risk of gas spilling on your expensive gear.
