Need a gps for my elk hunting trip

I have the cheap backtrack but I\'m looking to upgrade. I\'m new when it comes to a gps. What do you guys recommend or not recommend ?? Looking to spend 2-300$. What are some pro/cons of some units.

John, check out this thread here...there was some good discussion on different options: http://www.elkmentors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=100&p=698&hilit=gps#p698. I would highly suggest checking out the phone apps if you have a droid or iphone...a lot cheaper and they work pretty well.

Garmin, hands down! pick the model you like according to how many bells and whistles you want. Check out Ebay for some good deals before you buy.

I highly recommend the Garmin 62 series. The antenna is external and has the best reception out there. The 62csx is on sale now for $250 at REI thru the 26th.

Which would you choose and why? I am a GPS neophyte. I have never owned one but like the idea of finding my way back to camp if I go wandering for the day.
