New elk medicine

My cheap bathroom scale says 7.5lbs. I haven\'t been able to get an exact weight on the rifle...somewhere between 5lbs 13oz to 6lbs.

Super light t3 with fluted barrel ~6lbs
Talley lightweight rings 2.5oz
Vortex viper pst 23 oz

Gian, if you were shooting that off of a bench, try going somewhere where you can shoot the gun prone. I\'ve found that shooting from the prone position really reduces the felt recoil and allows you to shoot without flinching and allows you to shoot more as well due to a less sore shoulder. Just a thought!

I thought about trying prone but I need all the eye relief I can get with this thing. Always a little leery of getting to close when shooting prone!

Forget the break and get a lead sled for the bench. That way you know you are sighting in the gun and not the shooter!

Try practicing setting up prone versus off a bench, even in your house. You should ideally be able to set your head in the same spot on the rifle. The other thing you can look at is the eye relief - that is typically set by the scope. What I mean by this is you shouldn\'t be able to move your head closer to or farther away from the scope without the sight picture changing and not looking correct.

As far as a lead sled, they have their place, but I would be leery about sighting the gun in on one of those and then taking it hunting. Bill is right, it takes the shooter out of it, but it also takes the recoil out of it. The point of impact SHOULD be different when using a lead sled versus shooting without it. That\'s why I would always sight it in without the sled before hunting if you were to use one.

Not badmouthing the Lead Sled but I, personally, shoot better off sand bags than using a Lead Sled... I\'m sure it\'s just but I shoot better groups off sand bags than a Lead Sled... My oldest son swears by it though... Sights in all of his, his wife and the grandsons rifles and muzzle loaders using the Lead Sled and none of them have any problem killing whitetail after there gun is sighted in... :D :D

Lead sled first to confirm everything\'s on from last time.

After confirming, rest of shots are from hunting like setup - bipod on front and backpack under stock in back.

Browning A Bolt II 7mm magnum with BOSS muzzle break. Yes, my hearing got some damage and currently wear aids but wouldn\'t trade the recoil relief. I wear ear protection with amplification in them so I can hear everything around me but muffles the sound when shot.

Now I\'m curious how much my setup weighs.

I weigh w ammo.
Same here...mine comes in right at 10lbs loaded up. That\'s another idea for you as well Gian - shoot with a loaded magazine. Any extra weight will help to reduce recoil.
