I was born and raised in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I was taught how to fish and hunt, we'll what we hunt is axis deer in Hawaii. So I have learned the basic's like I've shot, killed, skinned, and packed my own deer. In other words I thought I was doing alright for myself. Well I was wrong! I moved away from home when I was 17 to go to college and get a degree and be all that everyone expected from me. During that process I started to feel empty, better yet bored of what I had been doing. I missed hunting, the thrill of stalking an animal and becoming that predator we as humans are knownot to be. So I moved to the grest state of Idaho, and let me tell you I have truly fallen in love. From mountain tops to streams I was exploring ever foot of this place. Then one day I heard a few guys at my work talking about their hunt from the year before, soon joining into the conversation sharing stories back and fourth. I went home that night and laid in bed tossing and turning getting that erage to hunt. So I started reading about north American hunts and rules regulation's animals here units the whole nine. Then one day I turned the TV on to the hunting channel and watched a hunt in new Zealand on a red stag/ new Zealand elk. I was at awe with this beautiful creature and the pure thrill of the hunt it took to land him. I knew then that I wanted to become a big game hunter, more so an elk hunter. So I hopped onto my macbook and started doing my research once again on the area the animal do's don't's I just wanted to learn . Heck I still want to learn, I need guidence I want to become a good hunter one day and I know I have a long way. That's why I joined this group to find my guidence and read stories of others take tips from other hunters try them and see if they are right for me. So all I am asking of you elk hunters out there anything will mean everything to me and I am truly devoted to stepping my game up from an island girl to becoming a North American predator.

Thank you  for reading and input.

One thing I would suggest is to go on a hunt or two with some people that you know to get a taste of what elk hunting is like. It is a lot more work then people realize, especially when one of the critters hits the ground. It is by far my favorite animal to hunt. I use to think of elk hunting as 90% luck 10% skill, as I got older it realized that it is more 50/50. It will take lots of dedication and skill development to understand how elk act. I think a lot of hunting is general is natural. Some people just seem to be better at hunting than other. I have a brother that likes to hunt, but it is not natural for him at all and it seems like it is hard to get him an animal. Best of luck to you! What state are you in?
