Swede - I don\'t think its the type of call that causes the elk to go silent but it\'s more the quality of the sound given.
Maybe Trav\'s idea about elk recognizing his bugle is a tactic that works in his area. Who are we to say it doesn\'t! I remember someone trying to convince me that elk calling in ones area doesn\'t work.
