Odd things found while hunting

Probably the oddest thing I\'ve found will hunting is a old pair of underwear laying on the ground.

Finding an odd soda can, outhouse, coffee can, is not that unusual.

What is the oddest thing you\'ve found when hunting?

I found a half-eaten mulie buck under a tree this last year. Mountain lion must have taken him down. That will make you think about turning around and checking your backside every now and then!

I found an old coffee grinder back in the 70s near Tarryall.
The coolest thing that I found was a spear tip in the area we hunt now, my oldest brother also found an arrow head in that area.
A couple of years ago I found a Rem. magazine still loaded with 30 06 ammo, hopefully the guy that lost that had a spare!

ran across a few of those, definitely gives you the he bee gee bees....

I found a baseball at 10,500ft. I assume it was someones lucky ball and they carried it with them hunting. I carried the darn thing for 2 days nothing happened. I did shoot my first elk that year though, but the baseball was back at camp.

I would definitely call that odd...

My finds are a bit morbid...the strangest thing I\'ve run across was a pair of cemetery headstones a few dozen yards off of a forest service road. I meant to look this couple up and find out who they were but never got around to it.

I also found a memorial to a fallen hunter on some BLM land. Sad but sweet.

On a lighter note, I\'ve found dropped calls (turkey box call, camo bugle tube, and a couple of diaphragm calls), as well as a baby\'s pacifier by an old elk skeleton.

there was a memorial stone just off a forest road where we hunted in Colorado, it was fairly new. didn\'t think that was too odd as I told my wife to drop my ashes off on the mountain when I pass.

Found a fresh killed and half eaten mule deer fawn once down in a little draw. You can not imagine how badly I wanted to get away from that place.

Found a nice little Buck pocket knife.

Bout the only \"strange\" thing I\'ve found was an abandoned camp. Looked like it had been there a couple years. Torn down raggity tent and all. Worried my grandfather a bit and he reported it and did some research but nothing ever came of it

My father was the luckiest scavenger to ever grace the elk woods. He found a scoped hunting rifle in the Selway a long time ago. Saw it laying in a muddy old rut in the road as they were driving out. Figured someone had layed it on the tailgate or cab, forgot & drove away. He reported it to the authorities as well as put an add in the local paper, but never heard a word. He was always finding some kind of \"treasure\" at an abandoned campsite or on a game trail. All I ever found was a camo grunt tube with another reed call attached to the cary strap. Already had both

I did stumble on part of an old t shirt in Tx on a hog hunt a couple years ago...along with a pile of what looked like bad chile. WW initialed in the liner...\"

Now that\'s funny!
A couple things I\'ve found: A coffee can that had grown up into a tree. I guess it had been discarded there and the tree grew up around it, so now the can is stuck in the tree. I have a photo of that somewhere around here. Last year me and the boys found a golf ball in a park, way the heck back in the woods. I know I have a serious slice, but I didn\'t think it was that bad.
I also found one of Colorado_Lew\'s arrows lying in the woods. I guess it was from a missed elk. He turned around and found one of my arrows a year or so later that I had shot at a coyote.
Last, I found a very cool three sided spear tip a few years ago. The very tip of it was broken off and I had to wonder if it was stuck in an animal or another human.

I was walking along one morning and saw what looked to be the metal end cap from a grease tube. I gave it a kick and out popped an 1878 silver dollar. It was tarnished from laying there for years but otherwise looked to be nearly uncirculated.

Last year, I found a mylar balloon.

Nothing odd ... just trash, or so I thought.

As I got closer, I saw writing on it. It was a \"goodbye\" note ... from a friend, or child, I don\'t know ... to a young lady who had died.

Kind of a somber moment.
