I wouldn\'t shoot because if I had waited that long to draw and had this youngster looking like he looks in front of me the 1st day... I\'d be waiting for good ol\' dad or grand paw for the rest of the hunt...

Regret it???????? Maybe the last day of archery season... But there would be plenty of good times between the 1st and last day of season to not make me enjoy my tag soup... :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Now I got a question... How much do you think that bull would score Pope and Young?????

I believe I\'m passing that one first day with 5 points. I assume a 5 point tag has more to offer and I would expect more encounters throughout the season. May end up regretting it later, but I should be able to find a similar bull in an OTC unit at some point that I wouldn\'t hesitate on. May as well try for better for a month if using 5 points.

well, it took 5 years to get that tag..... so hopefully I will have a few bulls under my belt by then, to pass on that guy. as of right now, im shooting

I said shoot for different reason.

I have X amount of days to take off every year.
So if I can end my hunt on day one, then I can pick up on other hunts, and with a freezer full of elk.

I just got done paying for my point in Co. so I will have 5 points next year. I would say I\'m waiting on this guy. Plenty like him in the OTC unit I hunt now.

Yep, I\'m waiting because of the five point deal. If I wait five years, I would want a little something more to show for it. Any other year and it\'s a dead elk
