Picking a unit by statistics

What are some things I should consider while crunching numbers on harvest/hunter/population numbers etc?  I have 4 units in mind for a DIY, Colorado archery hunt this September.  Basically plans A-D.  Plan A I've put a lot of effort into and now I want to get the other units in order.

Looking at Stats can be very useful.
But another thing to consider, is the terrain of the Unit, will your ability and age allow you to hunt it, like you need to,  and be able to get a Elk out.
I am getting older, so that always has to be considered too. JMO

I have 1 problem with it and that is how smart they are where you hunt as you see them in MCDs parking lot during season. They also run to private property. Some of the northern GMUs around Rocky Mtn Natl continue to supply good Bulls. Me I don't want a trophy. I want a fat, lazy, 2 year old with really sweet meat. A lot of Bulls get hot running cows, are just old and stinky or stringy. My cuz shot a cow 1st day last year and it's them best , meat I've ever eaten. I enjoy the hunt, picking my Elk and stalking it.
