planning idaho elk and deer trip

Okay guys so I've reached a dilemma that I feel somebody else somewhere has as well. I'm heading to Idaho this october to hunt and and deer, and I may even throw in a bear tag if the situation permits. Here's the issue, if I kill in the first couple of days, how will I be able to keep my meat cool as I continue to hunt. I could very well spend two weeks in the mountains and I don't want my meat to spoil. My best thought was bringing a trailer with a solar powered freezer, but that isn't the easiest or most cost effective route. I'm from ohio if that has any relevance to the situation. This will be my first elk hunt! Ideas?

Pack it out and pay a meatlocker to store it for you. Line it up before hand. If you're thinking it might go 2 weeks between 1st and 2nd kill I'd consider hard even having them process it down into burger, steaks and roasts and freezing it. Lockers get to be less tolerant in October when gun seasons start and more animals start taking up space so I'd have someone lined up well in advance and pay them (if you kill) generously or have them process.

Agree, get it to a locker. Have a hot meal and a shower. It will make the rest of the hunt more enjoyable. Had some guys pulling a 26' camper behind me one year heading into Yellowpine, the backway. The road beat me half to death in my F250, I'd hate to see that trailer when they got it back home. No way I'd drag a freezer Elk hunting in Idaho.
