Post hunting season truck inspection

With my 2015 season officially being over (my oryx hunt was a 15 tag) I decided to do an inspection.
I knew some things needed to be fixed, but it turned out to be horrible.......

Horrible, but very fortunate that I found it before something very bad happened....

For starts and perhaps the biggest ding, my drive shaft is DESTROYED. It\'s bent, dented, and twisted.
Some of you are probably like \"how did he not know?\" I have no idea.
Until 3 days ago everything seemed normal, but then my u joints started squeaking and I was getting a nasty vibration at 77.... I mean 70 mph.
My u joints were just replaced about 11 months ago, so I knew something bad was going on when they started squeaking. (non-greasable)

So lets talk about the list of stuff I need to fix before my 16 season:
Drive shaft
U joints
Speed sensor for left front tire
Left front hub assembly
Brakes
Rotors
internal and external tranny filter and fluid
axle fluids
right rear window motor
and a few other things.....

The worst part of this is most of this will be solved with a lift kit.
So once it\'s all fixed, I will probably order a lift and tires....

OR I JUST NEED TO GET MY HUNTING RIG....

Some of the damage

Dang kids! Take care of your rig and it will take care of you! :wtf: You\'d do good in a demolition derby. :D

Oh. That\'s what the pics were!!
I\'ve seen some lift kits put the shaft more in harms way.

Good luck. Can\'t be cheap.

Me. I need to change my diff fluids. Did a lot of water crossings this season.

Still no call on a quote.
Im guessing they ran out of paper while tallying all of the stuff :haha: :(

Having been with you on a couple of hunts, I can guess where a few of those axle dings came from!!

 I have too. I\'m pretty sure I know the dirt road in Oklahoma where that drive shaft got bent.

Well somebody\'s gotta say it if you had a real truck instead of that dirty max you would have been fine. Lol jk I worked at a dealership for quite a while ,drive shafts are expensive pretty un impressive when they get torn open and the center has a cardboard roll kinda like your tp :downthumb:

I still can\'t get over the fact I got no vibration.
This has definitely been like this for a while and I had zero indication until my U joints started going. :dk:

You might want to check your drag link as well. It will cause shimmy as you pick up speed also. If you hit something hard enough to dent the drive shaft, you could have messed up the drag link as well.

Save your truck. Buy an ATV!

I\'ll take a look at that, Thanks Bill!!!
Wife told me the same thing last night about the ATV!!!!

When it rains it pours!!!!

Guess who just found out they need a new roof!

This month just started and it\'s getting expensive :banned:

OK so we all know why this happened.

That Chevy just has so much torque and power that it bent the shaft when you got on it and that caused the drive train issue.

Im currentyl going through my truck and putting all new brake lines on the entire thing. I may or may not do a complete brake job depending on what I find. I started it last weekend when it was 60 but we just got hit with a snow storm and its gonna be 14 tonight. My last two trips out west elk hunting I rented trucks and drove them. Problem is if I draw my tag in Utah they say the mud is so bad in there if it rains you need to be chained up to get in and out or your there until it dries. So, instead of renting a truck for two weeks for 1,400 Im gonna put that money into my truck (new tires, brake lines, brakes, and a front drive shaft) and take THREE weeks off instead .

Thats the plan, but need the tag first!!
