Post hunting season truck inspection

Well somebody\'s gotta say it if you had a real truck instead of that dirty max you would have been fine. Lol jk I worked at a dealership for quite a while ,drive shafts are expensive pretty un impressive when they get torn open and the center has a cardboard roll kinda like your tp :downthumb:

Tdiesel,

Would you say an estimate of 1200-1500 for the driveshaft work is fair?
They still haven\'t called me back!

Is it a single or two section drive shaft? I am pretty sure a new shaft came with the u joints but it had been a while we had some hunter (hope it\'s not anyone on here) hit a snow drift broke his driveshaft caught all fuel lines and wiring harnes plus put a hole in the fuel tank then he unloaded his atv and rode it out to call :wtf: I wouldn\'t be surprised if your not in the ball park.

Sounds to me like you mind want to find another mechanic...worst case you might want to at least get a second bid. If they want your business it shouldn\'t take that long.

I spoke too soon..... They just called me with a quote for 6300 for:
Left front hub, seal, drive shaft, u joints, window motor and switch, pitman arms, idler arms, brakes and rotors.
I bet you can imagine what I said after that.....

The new lift in looking at has the idler arm and pitman arms, I can do brakes as rotors...

So for drive shaft, u joints, hub, seal, window motor and switch I\'m looking at 3300.......

Ya I didn\'t add up any of that other stuff I should have read more thorough. Not as bad as the Texan who shot his 300 ultra off in the truck got tranny and engine in one swift mistake.

Yikes!!!!!!! That had to hurt.

I\'ve been nice holding my tongue so far.... :silent: :silent:

GM DuraMax, Ford PowerStroke, TACOMA... Power???? I\'ve had both GM DuraMax and Ford PowerStroke FOLLOW me to Colorado and back with my ol\' 2001 Dodge Cummins pulling a 32\' 5th wheel camper and them pulling a 14\' flatbed trailer with 2 ATV\'s on it and neither could stay with me in the hills plus I had to slow down for them to keep up even on the Interstate... If you want power and durability the ol\' Dodge Cummins is hard to beat.... And it don\'t twist mickey mouse drive shafts... Maybe the drive shaft in my ol\' Dodge is   \"SuperDuty\"... ... I don\'t think I too tough on my truck since I used it to get me to where I hunt and back home and use my Polaris Ranger to get me where I really hunt.... :upthumb: :upthumb:

I better hush and (as Trump would say) let the \"light weights\" plead their case... :D :D

Ouch!!! Might be time for a new truck...?

I didn\'t want to have to do this, but we actually figured out why my truck is broken.

When I am hitched up with my trailer and hunting gear, then I am at my max weight.
Then for some odd reason I had an extra 500lbs added to the back of my truck while driving home this September.

Can\'t explain where that 500lbs came from, but maybe that\'s why your tacoma and powerstroke aren\'t broken Gary and Cliff?

 ;)

No sir!!!!

I bought this truck to last me forever. I just need to calm down and not drive so fast off road.
I get super impatient and drive through stuff way too fast. I also drive over and through some nasty stuff.
Areas jeeps don\'t even like going.

Me slowing down and being smart will prevent lots of this.

Like I said, it\'ll cost me 3400 for what they are doing, I just ordered another $1500 worth of stuff that I\'ll fix, then I\'ll do the lift and be set for a long time!!!!

And since we are all having a bit of fun ribbing on each other...........

And like everyone mentioned.

An atv will solve LOTS of these issues.
Sorry Dan, but with all the money you are having to spend on the truck, you could have already bought an ATV ! Oh well, too late now! Nothing like kicking a guy when he is down, huh.
