Time to get the Savage out and chase stink goats tomorrow. I\'m going to try the Slip System open country.

Well, I wanted to see if the new smart phone (yep -- I broke down and entered the 21st Century) will take a photo and then upload. I\'ve got reception where I\'m going, so I\'ll try to make this a \"Live Hunt\".

NIce going on the phone John :)
Nice floor too... :)
Looking forward to the field updates!

Bad news, Jeff ... I\'m returning the Slip System.

It makes it too easy!

OK ... the real story:

My son can\'t hunt until tomorrow, but I figured I\'d go out and \"scout\" ... with a rifle. I knew there was a tall buck in a certain area, and I thought if I found him, I\'d shoot him. Little did I know that it would be about that easy. I saw him at 250-300 yards, but there was a roll of land between us, so that if I got prone, I couldn\'t see him.

That\'s a very common problem while pronghorn hunting.

So ... I got the Slip System out and walked toward him. At about 140 yards, I could see him from a prone position, and ... BAM.

We\'ll get back out tomorrow for my son\'s hunt ... and post more!

That is a 15 1/2\" buck! Not a ton of mass, but his length was crazy.

What\'s crazier is that he didn\'t have any does ... there\'re bigger ones out there, and we have another buck tag!

Remeasurement after caping ... 16\" and 15.75\" ...

That\'s a big-un, and the biggest I\'ve killed.

Halfway to where I found the buck, I saw what I thought was a bedded pronghorn ... but it was a golden eagle. As I got closer, he lifted off (\"flew away\" just doesn\'t seem right for something that\'s big enough it should have 4 engines and a payload measured in tons) and I saw he was \"on\" something.

I drive the ATV closer and found this ... a pronghorn fawn. Guts gone, and just two quarters and half of a rib cage left.

Wow! They are impressive raptors for sure, I\'m always amazed when I see one.
