This last Thur in Boulder county they had meeting on elk problem at Ribbit Mt county park. Elk have taken up permanent residency In 2600 acre county park. They are way over populated now and doing damage to park and local farms. Last year state paid out over 56000 for crop damage. Park staff wanted a limited hunt to reduce numbers. Meeting was held and decision put off until May 25. They , board, did not like idea and want different options. Tree huggers and the like might have won out. All sort of wacky ideas on how to deal with problem. Hunting is now an extreme option . Will have to wait until May 25 to see what they do. They do have web address where one can Express you views. I sent my opinion in. U know what that is. :agg:

You CO guys would know better than me, but isnt the whole Front Range pretty much turning into tree hugger territory?

May 25 they had meeting voted 3 to 3. And tabled it until June 20 tah. Wanted other options. So does not look good.

Hi everyone. Have update on Ribbit mountain elk problem. June 20th the board voted to follow advice of CO fish and game and local park management. They will be allowing elk hunting on Ribbit mt open space. It will be cow hunt only. And only Mon, Tue and We\'d . Details not published yet.

I drove over there last week and saw 200 plus elk out in field about a mile away. Great seeing that many. Also could see calfs running following mom.

Thought it strange that they changed name to Ribbit mt. It was on park sign old name was rattlesnake mt. Said to watch out for them. Guess they wanted more visitors with new name. LOL

Roger.... I tried calling your phone a few weeks ago.
Are you heading back to you know where this year?

Same place I met you at last year?
