Has anyone ever attended a RMEF dinner or banquet?

Im going to one March 19th and I cannot wait!
Lots of cool prizes, good food and we get to talk about elk :upthumb:

I\'ve never been to one before, so I have high hopes!

I have never been to one but if they are anything like the NWTF banquets you will have a good time.

I have attended 3. Get there early as some of the raffles have limited tickets and sell out quick. I have a good time but there aren\'t really any elk hunters at our banquet. At least not any archery hunters who I have a lot in common with but I still have a good time. Last year I asked to help out and sold about 3k worth of raffle tickets.

I\'ve never been to one either, but hope to go to the NM banquet on 3/19, too. No idea what to expect!

Maybe you guys will get to meet each other and you can talk elk hunting. Seems you\'ll both be at the same event.

Thanks for the tip, Steven.
Ill get there nice and early!

3K worth of raffle tickets? Great job!

Dan,

Just remember no matter how tempting them auctions are you have a truck to fix..... :D

IMO
You wont find many \'boots on the ground\' type people there.
More in the \'posturing\' or \'look at me\' type.
Imagine a bunch of struttin\' toms out in a field....

It can be expensive. I realize the proceeds go for good causes, but if you never have gone to one, go.
You will have a much better insight at the end of the day.

Copy that, Brad!!!!
I may be sitting in the corner then and just taking it all in. :upthumb:

Brad is right but I assumed it was because my chapter is in southern Missouri. Most of the elk hunters are guys who have killed elk on guided hunts (nothing against that) but not a lot of common ground for someone like me. I always get the impression most guys are there to socialize and spend money. I mainly go just to help support the cause. It\'s not like I can do a lot for elk habitat from southern Missouri.

Too bad I couldn\'t have brought you guys. We could have had a BTO table and actually talked about elk hunting.

Are you going to the Clovis one?!

Oops, I didn\'t realize NM had different events on the same date. If I go, I\'ll be at the ABQ banquet. Guess I\'ll wear my best archery shirt and watch the strutting toms?

Lol beware of the toms!!!!!
Let me know how it goes and I\'ll let you know how the Clovis one goes.

We can see if one is more worth it than the other.

I agree with Brad. They are fun, but expect few get after it types. Still good for everyone there for giving something back.

BINGO to what Brad said !

I went to a BIG one in Denver once. Lots of dudes there in their fancy western suits, hi dollar cowboy boots, and $1000 Stetsons. :downthumb:

I didn\'t win anything, but I bought a very nice custom bench in the auction for my wife.
She was suppose to come with me, but is sick... so I came home with it as a surprise for our anniversary tomorrow, to make her feel better, and to thank her for all of the hunting she lets me do!!!

It\'s her favorite color and a kind of bench she has wanted for ages... WIN!
