What is the most fun part of a preseason scouting trip for you?
It is hard to determine for me. Seeing a new area is high on my list, so is experiencing the excitement of a great looking tree stand location with the fresh smell of elk. Maybe it is the smell of steaks grilling at the end of the day.

How does the fun of preseason scouting compare to the actual hunt for you?
To me it is about the same, because in a sense they are both hunting. I have more time to visit when scouting which is great. I see more things out scouting and come and go as I please. I don\'t wait for the animals. Still there is nothing like the excitement of the actual hunt.

It\'s mostly exercise for me. Plus, the fly fishing high mountain creeks when i\'m done scouting.

I am similar to you, Swede, in the fact that scouting is just as fun as the hunt for me. You are getting away from the craziness of the real world and get to spend some time in the woods. Unfortunately for me, the scouting trips are always shorter than the hunting trip, so they go by way too quick.
