Skull came home tonight.

Guys, thanks for the comments! Was a fun project for sure and turned out great! Beautiful bull, one of the biggest sets of racks I have ever had, and I see a lot of elk! It was a struggle just getting that thing through the door some times. Be careful with the beam John, all-thread and bondo are only so strong! Thanks for trusting me with your trophy and letting me bring him back to life.

Thanks again, Matt ... and, oh, by the way ... I should probably check ... did that beer I sent with Brad ever make it to your place?

It\'s crazy of me to be so suspicious, but something tells me there might have been one or two missing.

great work Matt and glad you got him recreated John... :upthumb: :upthumb:

I want comment on the other stuff...

I\'m going to try to find time tomorrow in the afternoon to score it and take more photos ... it may end up being Christmas.

Yepper.
Post up your guesses here.

For more in the field pics looks up Johns Halloween Bull thread.

I will wait a bit to post my guess, since I have handled the rack a couple times :)

I ain\'t very good at scoring anything but just a shot in the dark would be 299..

I would go higher if it was more than a 5x5...

I would also say over 300 but I\'ve been told it\'s got to be a BIG 5x5 to score 300 or better...

So I\'ll say 299... :D :D

But he is one heck of a bull...

I heard thru the Christmas Eve north wind that the rack is getting scored this afternoon....

Any more guesses?

Here\'s some more shots to help with scoring guesses.

All I know is that\'s a lot a bone and one great elk no matter what he scores....

I\'m sure if I\'d ever shot one that size you would have had to haul me off the mountain with the elk or buried me where I was... But no matter which way I\'m sure I\'d enjoy which ever was done for me...

I love that bull. I would take a big 5 like that over any other antler type. Really curious to see a score not that it matters, just curious.

Ask for the NE comments: From Colorado guys? The Huskers are terrible this year but you have the Rams which are basically a good high school team in their best year and the Buffs who are from Boulder-Nothing good comes from Boulder. ;)

Glad to hear you have assimilated into Nebraska, Andy! Adapting to the local culture is important.

Since there haven\'t been a lot of guesses, I\'ll just spit it out: 284 6/8\" (gross). Take 10 off for the net.

I am, of course, very happy with him. It wasn\'t an \"epic\" hunt, but it was a memory-maker, for sure, and we had some of him for dinner on Christmas Eve, which was nice.

I really like the European mount style, but this guy is so top-heavy, it\'ll take quite a while to decide where he goes ... now I\'m re-thinking my love of skull mounts!

I should have made a guess. I was thinking 290\". That\'s a big 5 point. What\'s his spread? It looks narrow, like 34ish\". That makes the score even more impressive. I agree on the euro mounts. Much cheaper, they look good and they don\'t take up nearly as much room on the wall.

Yes, yes, in NE you are free to be yourself as long as you adopt the Hushers as \"your\" team. :)

38\" spread, if I remember correctly. Should\'ve written that all down.

Can\'t wait to get out in the spring and look for his brothers. As much fun as this was, I really am wanting to archery hunt in this area. I think it\'ll be Dy-no-mite.

Awesome, I was thinking high 280-mid 290. John your right about that sucker being top heavy, be very careful hanging him and make sure its is solid! Big lag bolt would be my idea, into a stud, not me, a wooden one! For a 5 point to get close to the magical mark of 300 is awesome, you should be so proud, and the pictures in the field are awesome! That case of beer was a little light, I wonder how that happened!

Really cool, and great job repairing it! I\'m guessing upper 280\'s. Cool big 5. They look great.

My buddy killed a giant Coues deer last week that fell off a cliff. One side is in 6 pieces. He has a job gluing that thing back together!
