I\'m just a bean guy..... I can eat them hot or cold. Bushes backed beans has lots of great flavors.
Sometimes I can use that to flavor some of the other dehydrated nasty stuff.

I know the cans can be heavy and bulky, but they last a while once opened.
Even better when it\'s chilly.

Now I want beans :D

Dan....who should be offset from whom when we go hunt blacktail? LOL!

Maybe blacktail like black beans? I SMELL a new tactic to hunt them

DOes anyone know of ANY of these dehydrated meals or something similar to the APack meals that do not have MSG or Nitrates?

However, they are expensive.

To do it cheaper, make your own using their dehydrated or freeze dried veges, freeze dried meats and Boilable Bags or Cook in bag or zip lock bags. They also have the Desiccants to keep the homemade meals dry.

I buy some of their freeze dried veges and meats to add to other meals. I don\'t eat enough to justify making my full meals. I buy some of their dinner & lunch meals as my main daily meal (lunch) for hunting. I mostly use their meals for my hunting days. For scouting trips, I go with cheaper stuff.

I typically look for food that has at least 100 calories or more per ounce. I do a few peanut butter, bacon and honey (PBBH) bagel sandwiches that I vacuum seal and then freeze for some lunches. Usually mountain house for dinner - I could eat two packages if I was able to pack that much in, as I am starving after an all day hunt. Costco has a pretty good deal for a box of Mountain House meals - but only about 4 varieties. I\'ll add other items like dried pepperoni to a MH spaghetti meal. The MH breakfast skillets and biscuts and gravy are pretty good breakfast meals - for freeeze dried.

I haven\'t used this brand, but was thinking of giving them a try - the cost keeps me away, but I may try these for a scouting trip to try them out:

I can\'t find my menu from last year, but here is one from a goat hunt a few years ago. I have added protein powder to breakfasts and have found other foods, but this will give you an idea of what I was looking at. I was shooting for 3000 - 4000 calories per day, still lost almost 10lbs on a 7 day hunt. Apologies for the photo quality. I would try to freeze the non-dehydrated foods and then put all the frozen items in a stuff sack to keep cold.
