Springfield Armory XD-S handgun questions.

I am looking at a Springfield Armory XD-S. I don\'t like the feel of most auto handguns that have staggered shells in the clip. The grip is too wide for my hands. I have large hands but hate the feel. I held a SA XD-S in the 45. Wow it is light and felt great. I like it better with the extended clip. It is a bit longer and I feel I have more control. Has anyone shot one and what was your opinion on the gun?

A couple months ago when I was researching for a CC gun I handled the XD guns.
I too like the feel of single stack grip opposed to the higher capacity mags.
Springfield makes a good gun.
If I remember right, I believe Pikemaster carries an XD in a 45.
Maybe he will chime in

my daughter has one in 9mm and LOVES it. nothing wrong with the xds. however, the smith and wesson m&p shield is cheaper and folks swear by them.

I will have to check them out Scott. I think I want a 45 and I see the S&W only comes in 9 and 40. I guess the feel in my hand is what will help me decide. Thanks for the info.

terry, look at kygunco.com. they have the best prices on guns and not tax and free shipping. just ship it to a ffl on their list, pay the ffl guy usually around 20 bucks, and your good to go. had a great sale on xds this last weekend.

I completely missed the shield part, I am sorry!

Good luck at the gun shop tomorrow :upthumb:

I have the XDS 45 as my everyday carry. I looked at a lot of guns but I always came back to the XDS. I carry it in an Alien gear iwb holster and a custom leather owb and it disappears when I carry. I went with the 4.0 over the 3.3 just felt better in to me. I have about 600 rounds through mine so far with out any problems. I also have done a couple tactical pistol courses with it and it felt great getting it out of the holster and on target.

Thanks Pikemaster. That is the exact one I am leaning towards. I will try the feel of a few guns tonight.

If you end up with It spend $20 and get the rubberized Talon grips. It make that gun feel even better in the hand.

I tried the feel of some guns yesterday. The SA XDs felt better to me than the S&W Shield. The owner of the gun store had the SA XDs 45 in the 3.3\" with the rubberized grips. That made the gun feel even better. I will get some. Now I have to decide if I want the 3.3\" or the 4\".

I decided in the 4 inch. I checked the site Scott posted ( kentuckygun ) they had it for 442. One local gun shop 510. Gander mountain 569. I called they guy I bought my gun last year from who had a good price. He quoted me 445 and he has one in stock. I will pick it up Thursday and try it out. Now I need to get the rubber grips and a holster.

Get a fitted kydex holster, either IWB or OWB.
I got one made for my Ruger 9mm and its the real deal.

Here a link to a custom kydex holster - even has a review for your gun

Here is a pic of my new Ruger 9mm in the kydex holster on the belt of my pack.
It stays secure and you don\'t even know it\'s there
