Tall Guy looking for a Pack

I'm looking to purchase a new pack.  Looking to be between 3000-5000 cu. Looking to use it elk hunting this September.  Spending 2-3 days in the woods.  Spend around $400-600.  I'm 6'-5" and weigh about 200 lbs. After lurking a lot on here and rokslide I see that some tall guys have trouble with packs.  As an example one person wrote that a 25" frame on a pack was too short for him, resulting in the load lifters not working as well.  He had to carry more weight on his shoulders.  Any tall guys out there that can make recommendations.  I've been looking at KUIU and exo.  They seem to be more middle of the road in price and quality. Thank you.

Howdy Ringo!
I am 6'2" and have a long torso. I have had that problem with mostpacks, particularly internal frame packs . Not long enough. Or don't ride right.I have had an E-stock J-104 for almost 8 yrs and love it. Adjustable to fit me. It rides better than my day packs by far too. I know it's older but check them out,Eberlestock packs.
It looks like Tenzig are somewhat similar...

outdoorsmanspack systems is what im going to this year i have the same issues. optics hunter is the pack im gonna get internal frames beat my kidneys to death or hurt my lower back because they dont seem to ride right. there are lots of good ones out there try as many as you can.

Yeah I have also noticed that tall guys have troubles with packs fitting properly.

I absolutely love my Horn Hunter Full Curl System.  I am 6'3" 215lb and the load lifters raise the shoulder straps well off of my shoulders to where i am sure you wouldn't have any issues with it.

If you use the complete system it holds 5000 cu/in which is the Frame, Duffle Bag and Day Pack.  Then when I just go out for day trips I take the Frame with just the Day Pack attached which is over 1400 cu/in. If you wanted you could just take the Day Pack without the frame but I like the have the frame in case I get lucky and need to haul some meat.

Horn Hunter also has a lifetime warranty that is awesome and they are MADE IN THE USA!

Ringo,
6'5 also, I've used the Cabela's Alaska frame for the past 7 years and have had no issues.  It's a great system and with a little paracord you can attach anything you want in addition to a full pack

+1    I have one too, my back up. Great for trail use. Mines 15 yrs old....

Well I'm am not your height but my brother is 6'5". He has been using the Tenzing CF13 this spring getting in shape. It is very light and comfy even under a heavy load. I had it this last weekend to put it through it's paces. I just adjusted it down to fit my 5'9" frame and loaded it up with 105 lbs and took it for a 1.5 mile hike. It carried nice and I had no shoulder or hip pain afterwords. With the bag and wings it has plenty of space for 2-3 day trip. Right now Corey has it on sale on the Elk101 store for $650.00 a little over your price range but well worth the price. If you want an internal frame pack the Tenzing TZ6000 would fit your frame. I had the 5000 and I could carry enough gear for a 2 week trip and still haul out meat with the meat pocket. It easily carries 100 plus lbs. These Corey has on sale for $350.00. If you can try on as many as you can with as much weight as you plan on carrying in the back country. It does not matter what others say if the pack does not fit you it will be a rough and painful hunting trip.
I am trying to get some packs from some of the above companies for a head to head review. If it happens I'll post it on the site.

I'm not a tall guy myself but have been seriously considering buying a new Stone Glacier pack.  They seem to be perfect for elk hunting and have a load shelf rated to 130 lbs.  If you are in the market for a high end pack, $400-600, I think these are a great option.  Also, there is the ability to add smaller packs to bigger ones for more room.  Just a cool option in my opinion.
