The cost of hunting clothes

That list is ridiculous. I\'m not sure I spent that much in 60 years of hunting. I still wear some wool I bought in the 50\'s-60\'s.

I think some guys get more into hunting gear than the hunt itself.

Pete, I think you hit the nail on the head right there!

Bingo. Great gear, guns, pickups, and horses are all fine and good, but owning them doesn\'t make a person anything but an owner.

\"Owning a fast horse doesn\'t make you a cowboy.\"

Funny how people don\'t seem to get that.

But let\'s not forget that a concert pianist DOES actually need a high-end piano to reach HIS/HER potential. (I don\'t -- but that\'s because my potential is lower!)

Glad I just read this thread. Figured I would be made fun of if I anybody seen me in the woods out there this year. I was under the impression most elk hunters out there wore the high dollar stuff. My camo is what Wal Mart has marked down at the end of the year, as a matter of fact just got a new pair of pants for $10 last weekend. That\'s now my best pair!

I have 2 big Rubbermaid tubs of cotton camo I\'ve bought over the decades and it has helped me kill a bunch of bulls. I used some of it last year in AZ because the pattern worked so well in the burn. A few years ago I went to Sportsmans and bought Sitka core T, Traverse top, 90% jacket, and ascent pants. I have used that system almost exclusively since then. I don\'t know exactly how many hundreds it cost and it wouldn\'t matter anyway. The difference in how I feel with wearing it vs my old cotton camo or Lee 88\'s and a Bob Fratzke top is night and day. I use the Sitka pieces from mid August in OR thru October in WY. Looking at it, it will easily last a decade.
Does it make me a better hunter? Nope, not at all, but it sure works as advertised with regard to heat dissipation and moisture wicking.
