derek mine didnt seem to work at altitude. im not saying they wont. just didnt seem to for me. an i swear by mine

That\'s why I never bought one. Not enough oxygen at high altitude to fire up.

I thought I heard that...I don\'t have to worry about it anyway, seeing as they are typically long gone come rifle season. Only have to worry about it for scouting trips, but if I delay them long enough, I am typically okay :upthumb:

I guess us rifle hunters have ONE advantage over you bow and muzzleloader folks

Mine was working fine this past weekend at 9000\'. They must have had a small quantity as they sold out pretty quick.

9000\' would be ok. See if you can get it to work at timberline. I\'ve always been curious if they really don\'t work at high altitude.

i was at 9000 an the skeeters ate me up. an in mo i wouldnt go to the woods without one. they are AWESOME. but, maybe i had older wicks an thats why it didnt work. again, i just said mine didnt, not that thermacell wont.

I only used my themracell once at 10,000 Ft and it worked like a champ. We were eating outside and I placed it under the table. The result was no skeeters!

Ok.
I have been reading this thread and I can honestly say I have never used a Thermacell.
Never seen one or used one.
In fact mosquitoes are more of a nuisance to me than anything.
These \'mountain mosquitoes\' are nothing compared to Minnesota\'s State Bird.

Maybe thats why they dont bother me, I have been bit so many times.

Now I remember where I read it. This is right from the Thermacell FAQ.

Q: My ThermaCELL device is not working correctly at high elevations. What can I do?
A: Unfortunately, most ThermaCELL mosquito appliances and lanterns will not work well at higher elevations. At altitudes above 4,500 feet (above sea level), most units become difficult to start and run. The lower air density causes the problem. If you are having trouble using your ThermaCELL at high elevation, it is probably not a defective appliance, but just a limitation of the product at high elevation.

If you plan to use your ThermaCELL only at high elevations, you may be interested in the Mini Mosquito Repellent Lantern ? 2006 Model. It functions well at higher altitudes, and must be lit with a match.

If you are affected by this altitude product limitation and have no use for your ThermaCELL at lower elevations, you may return the product for a full refund. Email customerservice@thermacell.net or call toll free 1-866-753-3837 for instructions.

I still can\'t believe I am going to run into mosquitoes. I have to hunt in them all the time around here. I was looking so forward to getting away from them. I guess I can pack a Thermacell and hope it works. I don\'t always use mine though, deer will smell them so I\'m sure elk can.
