Tire chains

We are hunting southern Wyoming for the last two weeks of September.

We are driving up from Texas and think it might be a good idea to have tire chains in case of an unexpected snow storm.

We?ve never had cause to use chains down here and I have no idea about types. Doing a quick search I see some cheaper ones that say ?cable tire chains?. Those make me wonder if I?m getting what I pay for...

Any thoughts about type to get or advice?

We hunt northwest Colorado and carry chains because when the clay gets wet it becomes slick. We use actual chains. I carry a set for the front and a set for the rear on my 4wd. My thoughts are better to have and not need then need and not have. We also have chains for our atv?s for the same reason.

If you get them, definitely get the actual heavy duty chains. Really good chance you won?t need them, especially in September, but certain areas they do help as Rdub said.
