Today is the big day

Congratulations Master Sgt. Porter. :upthumb: Like I said before, \"That\'s quite an accomplishment for the amount of years you have served\".

Thank you very much everyone!!!!
I\'m still in complete shock. This couldn\'t have come at a better time too.

Congrats!!
I got question - I know nothing about ranks.

What does the Master Sgt do?

So in the military on the enlisted side you have the ranks of E1-E9

As you start out at E1-E3 your main goal is work work work work, but generally require supervision.
E4 is when you start getting leaned on more as expert in your trade and you start learning some leadership traits.
E5 is when you become a NCO (noncommissioned officer) this is where you start taking more of a leader than a worker. They still work, but it\'s more of a leader of a work detail who will follow up on the work the E1-E4 did.
E6 is generally a technical expert at their job and usually fill leadership roles such as shift leads. Basically they oversee and direct more of the work operation or flow.

E7 is when you hit SNCO (senior noncommissioned officer) they start falling into higher management or superintendent positions.
And it only goes up as you go up.

It\'s not the best explanation, but basically the higher you go, the more responsibility you will have and the more of a manager you\'ll become.

So you are now an E7? You are running out of numbers to hit Dan! You\'ll be an E9 in no time and then what? You are able to use the pentagon for aerial scouting instead of having to use Google Earth like the rest of us?

he will be in control of the drones and will be able to give real time intel during the hunt, um errr, scouting :D
