Traditional (Stick Bow) Pheasant Hunt

This year was the 27th annual, my how time flies by!!
We had 63 hunters and 15 birds were shot in the air.
Attached are a couple of pictures that show proof positive, that you can hit a flying pheasant with a stick bow and a flu-flu arrow.

Looks like fun times.

I jumped a turkey way back when at about 4yds from tall grass. They are slow getting up. I drew back and didn\'t drop the string. I wonder what might have happened if I did. :think:

I shot my buddies trad bow once. I launched the arrow about 5 feet over the target, gave it back to him, and never shot one again. lol

i worked with two older Japanese guys. they loved their german wire-haired pointers. they heard i was a \"hunter\" and invited me on a pheasant hunt. i had NO idea we had local pheasants. they drew me a map and i got there..lo and behold i was about to have my first caged bird hunt. i didnt even know places existed. they laid out the birds, we got our assigned grid and off we went.

first the dogs were awesome. the japanese guys were horrific with shotguns. they flat out sucked. and the birds were dumb..i had to kick one up..with the dog staring at it. come to think of it..i think a dog grabbed one in flight. every bird played out the same way. bird goes up like a lost b-day helium balloon. the two guys send up a shower of lead in six shots..i let them finish up and BLAM! i shoot it.

i had fun at the end when i took a dog and check out all the other grids looking for missed birds. they were harder flying after the short education. and the club cleaned the birds for me!!

i think i could hit one of those birds with a recurve. I THINK. i grew up with a slingshot in my pocket. i took a rancher\'s recurve once and nailed bulls repeatedly..he offered to let me keep the bow. i laughed. the arrows were so slow looking.
