Trekking poles. Who uses them?

I just bought another set used, $15 for Mountainsmith Pinnacles. These are three sections and collapse shorter than the others I bought. These also have a built in spring for shock absorption or some crazy voodoo. :dance2:

I\'ll use these this fall for hunting but now I have a set for myself and for the wife.

Nice find!!! :upthumb:

my friend used one to fend off a charging deer they thought was dead.

funniest story ever..i would have called BS except they showed me the deer pic and it definitely had a dent in the forehead.

lesson learned? never leave the rifle up on top of the hill because youre afraid to scratch it on the scramble down.

Started using them 2 years ago and now wouldn\'t be without them. Use 2 to pack in and out and just 1 when hunting. I got a cheap pair off of Ebay and they have worked fine.

I\'ve never used trekking poles but started using a walking stick several years ago... It made things a lot easier for me and kept me from getting wet a lot of times... Only problem I had was I would lean it up against a tree and forget where it was...

This is the one the kids got for me 2 or 3 years ago and the one I\'ve used since then... I used a homemade one before then...

I have one I made like that Phil. I use it mushroom hunting around home. Great to move the weeds or poison ivy out of the way searching for them too.

Don\'t have a picture of my old homemade one and don\'t know where it is now, maybe in one of the duck boats... But it was made similar to the one the kids gave me... For someone that\'s not as stable as they use to be they are a great help...

I havent used trekking poles a bunch, but I did use them when packing out my 61 bull and them were very helpful!

Here is a \'lost video\' of that day... :)

I used to work part time at an ice rink. There were many broken hockey sticks. I always kept my eye out for the carbon fiber ones. They are lite weight and you can easily put all your weight on one when jumping a stream or what ever. The only drawback I can see is that they are not collapsible. And they are usually a bright colored paint. I just rough them up with sand paper and spray mine flat black. Great walking stick and hell for stout.

I\'m a convert, although I use them more often when scouting/packing out than while hunting. My first pair was a couple of salvaged ski poles. They help me cover more territory more easily and I don\'t wear out so quickly, especially while wearing a pack. Trekking poles are a game changer!

there is something wrong with my brain when it comes to crossing a river with a fallen tree.

the tree truck can be gigantic and stable. maybe it is the rushing water..dunno. i have ZERO balance. maybe it is the backpack. i have no excuse.

the trekking poles improves things vastly. my brother and friends just meander across, and i butt pucker, shuffle walk it..hahahhaha

trekking poles!!!

Is that for a set or 1? I thought it was $25 each.

I\'m pretty sure it is a set...bought the same one...figured for $25 they wouldn\'t be bad to have

The only thing that I wondered about is it asks if you want 1 or 2.

They only allow you to purchase a certain amounts of an item at the discount price

Will you post up when the poles show? If you get 2 I will order the next time they show up.
