Those look like fun. I would love to have one of those mounted. I love those light tipped feathers. Not sure I could run and gun those like I do the Easterns around here though. Wished Colorado wasn\'t so far, maybe one of these days after I kill a bull!

no turkey hunting in Kansas for me :downthumb: the wife got her new job training orders last night. she will be in florida then..... she said that I could still go, but I am not going to put the family in a bind for a turkey hunt. I will save that card for September.

Sorry to hear that. If you can make it to MO in April, I\'ll do my best to put on an Eastern. I\'m ready to chase them. 6\"-9\" inches of snow and sleet for tomorrow. 100% chance of rain this afternoon and I\'m a paulbearer at a funeral. As soon as that funeral is over I\'m headed to a visitation for another one and then another funeral tomorrow. I\'m so ready to get in the woods and see some red buds and dogwoods bloom and hear some birds gobble!

Come on down if you get a chance! Always looking to take somebody out chasing gobblers.

Dang that sucks Gary. I was looking forward to getting to meet you and wack a couple of Tom\'s with you.

Glad to hear your wife got a job though.

thanks guys. the wife is digging the new job. no more 80-90 hours weeks and she gets paid more with way better benefits to do less! i was also looking forward to meeting you guys in person. that was way more the benefit than the turkey hunt itself. although, getting a merriam was a close second.... ;)
steve, thanks for the offer! i will have to wait until next year to see if that could happen. whats in the water, that everybody is keeling over????

No idea. I\'ve had 3 funerals in 7 days. Mainly old age and cancer. I hope I don\'t have any more funerals for awhile. We\'re supposed to get slammed with 6\"-9\" inches of snow and ice here any minute and hopefully some warmer weather next week. I\'m so ready for spring to get here. My drive way is going to cost a ton of money to fix this year. It\'s kind of steep and long and I\'ve lost a lot of chat over the last two years. As soon as I get good weather I\'ve got to get it fixed. Seems like every spring there\'s always projects that cut into my hunting budget and I bet the gas prices go up too. Happens every April. Don\'t care there, I\'m ready to chase some gobblers!

More mountain merriams. I hope they stay right here for the season!

Will, If you get near where the birds are do they gobble their heads off before sunrise like easterns? I hear turkeys gobble for a mile in all directions around home. Then when they fly down out of the roost they are somewhat quiet. They usually go to the fields for a morning snack with all of the hens. I find it easier to hunt them after the hens go to their nests if I don\'t get one to come in first thing in the morning. It is hard to call them away from all the girls.

Terry, yea they gobble a bit on the roost but less than the easterns and rios I\'ve hunted. They are also REALLY hard to pattern, never roost in same tree, sometimes miles away. Sure is fun to hunt em in the mountains though!
