I received some vortex diamondbacks as an Xmas gift this year.  Do you think it would be worth the extra money to upgrade these to the talon or viper

My buddy has the diamondbacks and I have the Viper HD's.  In my experience the diamondbacks looked great brand new right out of the store, but after both being used for ayear there is a noticeable difference between the two.  The Viper's are so much clearer.

My answer is Yes it is worth it.  The Vipers are awesome for the price.

I'm going to upgrade to the Viper HD!  When checking them out, I compared them to a pair of ziess that cost another $300.  Of course the ziess weren't HD but Vortex were the better glass!!

I have heard that any of HD glass ones are pretty nice..
