Howdy & Welcome to the Elk Mentors!

Tell us something about yourself and jump into the conversations!

Swede checking in. I am the guy that pokes sticks or throws a big chunk of wood on the fire when Brad is down wind. Of coarse I apologize and say \"scuuuze me. Did I do that to you?\" I only harass people I like, so some of the characters here get more than their share. I see the forum is much more user friendly than it was a few days ago. :)

Howdy Swede.
Not sure if you qualify for a new guy but we can pretend for a short time.

There is always plenty of wood for the fire here. It\'s warm and without a chill

Swede, where have you been? Don\'t tell anyone, but Brad built you a nice new seat for the fire...he even raked up a bit. I don\'t think he has caught on to the \'downwind\' tricks yet!

I\'m a flat lander deer bow hunter whittling down on my bucket list by hanging around way too much grabbing any bit of elk knowledge you guys drop. I\'m that lost puppy you cant get rid of, lol

Bob, we have all been there in one form or another. Ask away at any questions you have, the knowledge here will overwhelm you. The handful of people already on this forum will blow you away, trust me ;) Don\'t be shy, ask away! We are here to help...

Welcome all! Nice to see some old faces here from other places. Looking forward to the conversations.

Nice job of tracking Bob  it should have been a pretty easy trail as a lot of these guys leave a real good trail to follow. Great to see everybody coming to camp!

Swede, you old rascal you! wELKome! Now I don\'t feel like the only gray beard running around this part of the elk woods. :D

And a big howdy to Bob Frapples as well. Hey guys, I see Bob is from Da Bayou. Maybe we should trade him an elk hunt for an alligator hunt :wtf:

Howdy,

From Southeast Missouri, been a turkey and deer hunter all my life. I want to become an elk hunter before I get too old, I\'m 41 now so it\'s time to get started. Hope to get some advice on where to go, learn some calling techniques and make some friends.

Welcome Steven! Hopefully the PM\'s I sent help you out a bit. Stick around here, there is a lot to be learned!

Let me think on that, giant water lizard for an elk, Sounds like a deal,,,,,,,, for me, lol

I\'ve kicked the idea of getting a tag around some but never pursued it, guys at work say they tough to clean. I\'ve ate them several times but it\'s so much like chicken I hardly see it worth it.

Hello, I\'m new to hunting in general and was encouraged to learn to hunt by my son...who will finally be old enough to hunt big game this fall. We\'re learning a lot about elk and have received some awesome assistance from members members here. (Huge thank you to those that have helped us out!)

I\'m here to learn and hope to be able to teach some of this stuff to my son.

welcome guys, this is shaping up to be more than just a run of the mill hunting site. already good folks around here

howdy men.

Glad to find yall, you can blame Brad, cause he told me about this forum.

FYI, I have been \"jswbga\" on other forums, but since that handle is meaningless to anyone but me, I\'m switching to Billy Goat.

I hail from Denton, TX and only hunt elk at every opportunity.

Good to be here.

Looking forward to the new forum. thanks bowhunter for the invite. Been hunting most of my life, started with small game rabbit, quail, pheasant and so on. Then in the early 90\'s bought a bow. Since then thats all I think about, I have a uncontrollable passion for bowhunting. The flames burn hotter everyday and never go out. My kids are grown now, so its my time too do what I enjoy. I\'ve been elk hunting a couple of times and seen elk both times. Couldn\'t seal the deal though, just a matter of time I hope. Not a big trophy hunter although like the headgear just like everybody else. Ultimately want meat in the freezer is the goal, but if it comes with a set of antlers thats a huge bonus. I hope I can start giving some advice after I get some more experience, but in the meantime ready for the learning curve from you seasoned elk hunters. Thanks again too Bowhunter for the headsup on the forum.

Welcome Archery Bum! Lot of knowledgable people around here. Feel free to ask away with any questions you have!
