What caused the scratches on rack?

Never seen these kind of scratches on a rack before and thought I'd ask the experts.  It's only on one side.  Was he sparring and another bull had a kicker point or something?
Noticed when I was finishing up the Euro mount.

I shot a 6x6 this year that had similar nicks and scratches I assume that they are from either fighting or junk that they rake. One is a perfectly straight line.

Hadn't thought about barbed wire but it was only that 10-12" stretch of the one side.  Oh, well, it's character!
