When do you believe is the best time to be out for elk, the way you hunt? Why?

I prefer 7:00PM the evening of opening day for tree stand hunting. I also like 7:00 PM, midweek following opening day. I prefer hunting undisturbed or only slightly disturbed elk. Many hunters are only out for Saturday and Sunday, so things can actually improve after the weekenders have gone back to work.

I tend to agree on the mid-week time after the weekend warriors are gone. But really, every day on the mountain is special during elk season. The season is short. Hunt every day you possibly can.

I have seen way more elk in the early morning hours than I have in the evening. Don\'t know why that is, but it is definitely the case for me. Doesn\'t seem to matter which day of the season though...I will see them opening morning or the last day of the hunt, but more often than not it is in the morning :dk:

Opening weekend it has been about even between morning and evening most years.

This year was a strange one for my area. They were moving a lot mid day in the heat.

I agree with Bill and hunted every day I could hunt when I hunted elk... I saw and killed more elk in the afternoon...
