Whats your next gear purchase?

I need a sleeping bag. I have been looking at a Marmot Sawtooth. I want one light enough to spike/bivy. I\'ve used a modular sleep system (army) but had to turn that in when I retired. That\'s about the only experience I\'ve had with sleeping bags. Any suggestions?

What temp?

I have a western mountaineering alpinlite. The bag is profoundly comfy. It is a 20 deg bag. I can argue that it is too roomy for me, so I think I lose some warmth to the additional real estate. I wish I can try the ultra lite. Same bag but trimmer fit.

Great great bags. The zipper design is worth the cost of admission. It never snags the fabric. Ever. I hate when that happens. Usually when you need to exit fast to pee.

I looked at those bags, they are pretty pricey. Probably a little more than I want to spend. They do look nice though. If a sleeping bag was all I needed this year I could probably justify the money but I\'ll have to put new tires on my truck before I head out to Idaho and that will leave a dent in the elk budget.

i had the one bag warmer of the sawtooth. the NEVER SUMMER. i still have it. very good bags. my friend runs the sawtooth. i\'m not fat, but he is definitely thinner than i am. the two bags have the same dimensions. all of the areas feel fine except my legs. they are really held together really tight. i sleep \"okay\" but not super comfy. i ran that bag for years. warm enough. the never summer doesnt pack down that small. cant remember the sawtooth.

if you are super slender you should be okay. i get freaked out a bit with my leg so..tight feeling.. hence the new bag.

I get that Claustrophobic feeling in a mummy bag also...a good feature with the sawtooth is that you can get it in an X wide....much more comfortable for me.
