Which string?

I have to get a new string on my bow. Winners Choice or Vapor Trail? I\'m real torn between the two.

John, all I know is that I have had good results with Winners Choice. They hold up well and my peep doesn\'t rotate at all. I have been able to eliminate the rubber tether we used to secure to our peep, in the days of Fast Flight strings. Of coarse I never needed a tether with a Dacron string either, but they were before peep sights.

I have had really good luck with Vapor Trail. My new Hoyt came with them on it. Have them on my old bow all so. The sting that came on it only lasted a couple of years. The new ones have been on it for 6 years now.

Heard lots of good things about 60x. No personal experience.

Had a set of winners choice and they were very good.

I bought a set of 60x this fall so really can\'t give an accurate evaluation as its so new. I have had several sets of both Wc & VT over the years. Both are great strings. Personally, I believe VT held up longer than the WC strings & were a little more reasonably priced. Anxious to see how the 60x will compare to the two. Workmanship seems excellent with no stretch so far. JMO.

Yes and no. Not all strings are made of the same material but all stringmakers have access to the same material. The most common material now is BCY 452 X but they are always coming out with new materials. Brownell has really turned heads with their Fury material. BCY came out with X which is similar to Fury. It is debatable as to whether Fury is a better material than 452X or others but it is really not debatable with regards to looks. Strings made with Fury are simply awesome looking and they don\'t fuzz like 452. I haven\'t used Fury yet but my next strings will be made with Fury by one of the reputable stringmakers that has the best deal when I order. If you haven\'t seen this material I would do a search and take a look at them. Some say that Fury is also more stable and faster than 452X. I can\'t confirm that but they do look great.

There are many good stringmakers but if I needed a string fast I would call Vaportrail. I have used them exclusively for about 3 years and they are great strings. The only downfall is if you are looking for a newer material they don\'t offer it. They only offer 452 or their own proprietary material, VTX. VTX is very good and it would be my choice for Vaportrail strings.

But when I talked to him before ordering, he did give me the choice of what material I wanted the string made of. So you are right in stating that most string makers have access to different types.

I was told Elite bows need tight thin servings at the cams to provide proper clearance. True or not, I use Winners choice because they are the OEM string for my bow. More $$ but they work and are super stable. I\'m on my second set because I cut my first ones. They look great. No serving separations and they haven\'t gotten super fuzzy. I\'m gonna shoot them another year.

I\'m using Vapor Trail currently. My son is being sponsored by a string maker from Louisiana who hand makes each string and cable set. I\'ve seen his strings and they appear of great quality. My son and I will soon be using his strings. I don\'t remember his name or the name of his company but many target archers use his products. I can get you details if you like.

Here are a few strings made from Fury that I pulled off Archery Talk. Look at how the colors pop and they look like a solid piece of material. Almost like weedeater string or something. I think they look great. These are strings built by Ray Knight over on AT. He is a great stringmaker.

me too!! my first set of customs (and second) were from BuckNasty. great great strings. never moved. looking back, the new string guys are better. it blows me away how tight the servings at the loops are. i dont remember my bucknasty strings having served loops. i got my BuckNasty strings in blue/grey/black and i carry on that tradition to this day. kinda like Dallas cowboy colors..probably explains all the mysterious deer losses.
