Who\'s going turkey huntin"?

Drove from cumberland to the cities through Baldwin yesterday. Good to see some bare ground but never saw a bird north of 94. Looking forward to 12\" tonight. Heard quite a few reports of guys finding dead birds now that some are getting back into the woods. Looks like they died on the roost.

Tried walking in my woods in northern Polk co (WI) and the snow was still 6\" over my knees.

that sucks!! ^^^

i am heading out for 4-5 days (sunday) with my brother. i\'ve taken the pressure off of myself, so i can focus on getting him a second bird with a bow. last season he lost one, despite a good looking shot. i hope to erase that stink off of him. i know it still haunts him.

i even went and had six arrows made for bullheads. decap broadheads. the arrows are full length..32\"?? and fletched with four vanes. i want him to drop a bird in it\'s tracks. he takes lost animals hard.

You guys are lucky. We don\'t have turkeys in this part of the country. I usually get mine plucked and ready for the oven for about $7.00 at the grocery store. Cheaper that way anyhow! :wtf:

yea,..i think my turkey works out to about $599.99 per pound! :D

Dad shot an Osceola with his bow. Took him about 20 days. That particular bird cost him 189$/lb give or take a few cents

Tomorrow morning our season opens at 630 am. Have my spot figured out and hoping to take my first turkey. Hearing the turkeys going crazy while scouting sure helps the down side of the off season. I might like this spring hunting....

Missed my second chance for the year, hen and 2 big toms headed right to me, hen walked 10 steps right behind me. Big tom folded up, stood up took two steps behind a tree and vanished. Other went other behind palmetto.

Truck and camper are loaded.
Leaving in 1 hour - drive ~3 hrs to meet Buglemaster

Enjoyed having both of you guys out Brad. Sorry this \"fowl\" weather didnt cooperate better for us. I dont think we had it as bad as you did for the ride home. Nothing sticking on the roads here in town so far, but it is still trying. Heres a pick of the \"hot tub turkeys\" as well as some from the feedlot we visited. This pic was before the two of you showed up with the \"turkey b gone\" stuff... :haha:

that weather sucks for sure for turkey hunting. but, in 1995 a buddy of mine an i went to kansas an meant some folks out there. we killed 11 gobblers the first day, there were several of us, an there was prob 6 inches of snow on the ground. dangest thing i ever seen an no way to repeat. this area hadnt been hunted for turkeys an they were STUPID

took the oldest boy, 8 1/2, out this morning. watched around 30 roosted birds, was cool to see them strutting in the treetops! we had at least 5-6 gobblers around us. they hit the ground and gobbled for a little bit and then went quiet. i could tell that they were going away from us. I could see one strutting way ahead of us and decided to close the distance. got to within 80 yards before we ran out of stalking room. got two bruisers to come towards us for 20 yards, but the hens they could see were too tempting to want to commit. i know where we are going tonight :D
