Who is getting out for the rifle seasons this year? Which state and when are you heading out?

I'm heading out to unit 13 in Colorado Thursday morning for my first ever elk hunt.  I don't expect to get much sleep the next few nights.

3rd season mule deer in CO GMU 10 and 4th season elk CO GMU 3. Been practicing at the range for awhile. Scouting trip to 10 next weekend. Know 3 like the back of my hand.

2nd rifle season Colorado unit  214 elk cow tag  14 Bull elk and Mule deer buck tag. Leaving Tuesday the 16th for the 30 hour ride. I am basically packed now ready to roll.

That's awesome! The anticipation only gets worse the more times you go, so welcome to the addiction  :-D

We are hunting second rifle this year. Unfortunately it's going to be a shorter trip since I hunted so much during archery. Got two and a half days of hunting to get it done.

Leaving for Colorado Unit 18 tomorrow for 1st rifle. Can't wait to be in the mountains!

I filled my 2 Utah OTC tags on the rifle opener Saturday morning! I hunted 11 days with my bow and managed to screw up every opportunity I got. But put down a bull and a cow with the boom stick!

Nicely done UtahJimmy! Looks like you had some packing ahead of you with two elk on the ground in the same day  :upthumb:

Yes sir! 4 miles from the truck, 1800' of vert to drop. My buddy and I deboned the cow and got her out in one trip (major suck)! Then came back with reinforcements for the bull. My wife, 2 friends, and I made quick work of him.

I?m going to Montana during the first week of November for about 10 days. Gonna hunt some block management in region 4 for a cow and head to region three and look for a bull.

I won't be hunting elk again till after the general (b tag) season is over here on the 24th. Then I have a few days to chase elk with a rifle. Looking for a decent bull or I will wait till the December muzzleloader hunt for antlerless elk.

Rifle deer opens tomorrow but that is the same as the general elk opener and I usually avoid the woods then. I might try to find a place with no elk hunters and see if I can locate a deer to take a poke at. Duck opens here on Saturday so I may not hunt big game much till the orange army is out of the woods. I have my general deer tag and an extra antlerless whitetail tag.

All for unit one in north Idaho.

Just got back form my first Wyoming elk hunt, which was a great success!  Shot him in a large pond, and had a wet day from then on  :-D

Congrats rdumont!!

I've got 2 2nd rifle tags, but am still trying to figure out what I do.

I picked up a lefter Unit 1 cow tag, and drew a unit 45 Mule Deer tag without any PP. This is in CO. I typically hunt Unit 45 and know I will be able to find some mule deer. I've never hunted Unit 1, but would rather get a cow to fill the freezer than a Muley Buck... Hoping I can find something good in 1.

I may hunt 1 the first weekend and 45 the 2nd.

Heading out to the Douglas, WY area to try and help my brother fill a cow tag.  Looking forward to next year as he's got 9 preference points and might finally get to archery hunt area 7.

Up here in North Idaho for a tag rifle. Messed up or had it messed up for me a few times durring archery. Saw a bull and a cow this morning in the rain and for but the bull wouldn't step out.
