Moved to a new area last year because I wanted a higher elk density. Did the map work all winter, scouted the new spot twice during the summer and saw enough cows, calves, and spikes to make me giddy. Set up camp three days before the opener and did some soft scouting to confirm the elk were still there. Opening morning, with the aid of my headlamp, I walked right into a camp set up in the middle of the travel route I was going to hunt. Plans B, C, D, and E were blown out too. There were more people there than the day after Christmas sale at Wal Mart. This year I\'m going back to my old spot...lower elk numbers but fewer hunters.
