Why even go?

Go shoot one and donate the meat. There are lots of people out there less fortunate that would be happy to have it, and you get to have a great time while helping someone out.

Why even go? C\'mon, we don\'t hunt for meat. That can be bought at the store for less money and effort than we put into this elk thing. I hunt to hunt, because I love it. That\'s why

Gotta disagree ... you can\'t get THAT kind of meat at the store. And I don\'t mean elk meat ...

I think bringing home venison is like growing a garden. Can we get it elsewhere? Easier? You bet. But there is a satisfaction that comes from eating food that I have grown or hunted ... Yep, I like the hunt itself, but I\'m at the point where killing without eating (vermin) is not for me ... sometimes necessary, sure, but comes under the heading of \"chores\". \"Hunting\" is much more.

\"Hunting\" is more than just those few days of the year that I am actually in pursuit of critters. Sitting down to a meal of pronghorn, or elk, or deer in the middle of March, when the snow is blowing and winter is getting too long, is just as much part of the hunt as the chasing, calling, shooting, gutting, and packing.

I\'ve enjoyed chasing and killing animals simply for the chase ... but not any longer.

i dont like venison, so im stuck hunting for the chase. but not the kill. i hunt for the new experiences, the excitement of new country, new challenges. i wish i liked venison, but i just dont
