I've got a sawyer mini and now a steri pen classic ... I day hunt but try to not pack super heavy on the water since there is so much available in the area... I've filtered a bunch and been fine but I guess it's the idea of not knowing and just going on blind trust the pen will do what it needs to. Anyone else get the steripen jitters ;D

I have a Steripen that I don't use for a few reasons.  The first reason is weight, I prefer using my Sawyer filter for weight and ease of use.  And the second reason is that I used to live out of the country and used many types of filters and one thing that is often overlooked with using a UV light is that any microscopic particles in the water that block the light will potentially cause the water to be unsafe because the light won't be able to kill parasites like Giardia because they can be hidden behind the particles where the light doesn't reach them.  In places were the water is generally clean and apparently free of parasites there might be less concern, but, if the water is contaminated then a person really should filter the water before using a UV light like the Steripen to make sure the water is safe.
