I have a fishing license along with my deer tag for next weekends opener. I am hunting private land for deer near Craig. I will be pretty close to the river about a mile or so from where it runs thru town. Is this section still good fishing for smallmouth or pike? I have read different opinions online and I know a couple of you may live near that area. Thanks in advance.

a few years ago my son caught this nice brown trout right in town of Steamboat on the Yampa

Toss some 1/4oz Panther Martins across the river and rip them back letting them swing downstream in the current.
You\'ll catch a plenty of fish :)

Black and Gold are my favorite.

Sounds good! I knew the Yampa near Steamboat was still great fishing. Just did not hear much about the section in Craig. Unless I tag out early, I wont have much time to drive to different areas to fish. If I do tag early, its on tho!
