I knocked down my first bull elk this year on my second year of hunting. I took the Elk101 course last year, but was still completely lost. I had to pair it with actual field experience, and this year was amazing! We got into a bugle fest within the first hour of the hunt, had 4-5 bulls...
When the only access is from above at the head of the drainage, how do you approach it each morning? Is it best to set up a spike camp at the bottom so you can hunt up in the mornings?
Ive been building points in CO for a while and finally decided to use them. Im somewhat in no mans land for archery elk with 7 non resident points. Ive narrowed my search down to unit 49 or unit 66. Any first hand info on whether to or not to hunt these units would be greatly appreciated!
