Who has their 2015 Elk Hunt already planned? At this point I\'m clueless, I\'ve got a few options but nothing remotely locked in. How about everybody else?

I have plans. First I am waiting to see if Joe draws a limited tag in Wyoming or Arizona. If he doesn\'t we might hunt together in Wyoming, Montana or Colorado. If some reason Joe can\'t make it I will ask Razorback if I can tag along with him or if all else fails I will go solo. It is early and many things can change. I know one thing is for certain. I will be in the mountains in elk season.

I also plan on doing a scouting trip in early August with my son. The fuel cost will be down hopefully this year and he is old enough to carry his own gear. He asks many questions about the mountains trying to compare them to Hills around home.  He is in for a surprise.

That\'s a good idea. My son asks about the mountains too. He has no idea  I can\'t wait to get him out there.

steve, I will be going back to Idaho. at the very least I will be heading back to the same spot. but, my buddy has the grand plans to find a more reclusive spot to get away from other hunters. he has never shown any initiative to put anything into our elk hunts, so I really don\'t see that happening. I will probably be going solo this year

Funny you mention Idaho. I have been emailing a guy from Idaho. I don\'t know him personally just through a friend I work with. Apparently he\'s a pretty good elk hunter. He gets into bulls every year and strictly does the backcountry hunts. He told me the NR tags for his unit go on sale 10 July and give him a call if I buy a tag but be in shape. He actually gave me the exacty location of where he\'s hunting, it\'s a five mile hike from where he parks. It\'s rugged country. I\'m considering it but like I said I don\'t know the guy and a lot can change in 7 months. He\'s also active duty like me and our plans can always get adjusted due to circumstances beyond our control. Well Idaho is definetly on my list as well as that spot you told me about in Colorado.

I just wished I could be financially independent for the month of September so I could hunt multiple states and places! I started elk hunting too late in life.

For me it will come down to scouting and discussing things as we go into Summer. I have my old haunts, but want to look into some new areas. Where I have hunted is definitely poor and has been for several years.

So far it looks like we will probably go back to our same area. We got a few leads on a couple of other spots to check out. We found out last year our spot is going to be shut down because of energy expansion.

I am just trying to hit as many places as I can while I am young and find the areas I like most to focus on.

I did NM and will apply for it again next year, but I still need to check out Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, etc...

I can\'t wait for next years adventures.

Heading back to Colorado after four years of not going elk hunt...that\'s enough of that. Headed to a new area and about half done on the google scouting and things are looking really good... looking forward to getting back out there. Dusting off the gear and making a short list of the new goodies I can\'t live without...the planning and prep work is a big part of the hunt and excitement for me.

As of now, we will be heading back to a spot we hunted two years ago. I am really excited to get more boots on the ground and expand on the areas we already learned. Things could change, but as of now that is the plan and that is what I am spending my time studying. Hopefully there will be a scouting trip out there this summer as well, but we\'ll see...

I will also be drawing a buck antelope tag that I have been waiting a long time on. Looking forward to that hunt.

On top of that, I might redeem my deer points for a buck tag and I am also eligible for a moose tag in CO, so here is me crossing my fingers (and toes)!

Ill shoot you a PM tonight when I get some time. Idaho looks great. I like the fact there are wolves out there too.

Derek you will be busy if draw all those tags :D Do you have moose close to you?

Truthfully I have no idea on what to do with the Moose opportunity. I have enough points to technically be in the drawing here in Colorado, but I really don\'t know where to apply for. I honestly might go for the same area as Brad (cnelk) did since I think I could get some intell ;) I am not planning on drawing that tag this early in the running, but if I randomly do I can guarantee you all will be right in the middle of the entire process!

Ya Brad will be a big help for you. He knows the area I used to hunt that he did not hunt but I told him about the area\'s that I saw them also.

I wish anyone that is the Colorado moose draw good luck! The tag can be had!
I drew mine in 2009 after 18 years of applying, but it can take less years than that.
Derek, I would recommend you apply for any RESIDENT ONLY moose units, the percentage isnt much greater to draw, but it is greater by a small margin. PM me and I will give the unit I got my bull.

It is time for me to ante up and apply for Wyoming as the application process is open now in January.
Deertick said that the results are posted the end of Feb, so I will have time to adjust accordingly for the Colorado draw before April.
I have never hunted elk other than Colorado, so I am hoping I draw!
