I have been really busy and have not had the time to hunt as much as I would like. I wanted to get a deer with my 45 auto handgun. I tried sitting the timber Friday night but only saw an owl. I know the deer head to my lower bean field and my odds are higher there but I would not have a close shot for the handgun. I have 2 tags good till the 10th so I chose the bean field Saturday to fill one then if I get time I can try to handgun hunt later.

I have a buffer strip on 2 sides of the field near the creek to prevent soil runoff. It is planted in tall prairie grasses. I found a good spot to ambush a deer near the middle of the field so I cleared out a spot at the grass edge and laid on my belly for the last hour waiting. Finally 2 does came from the timber to feed. I glassed them and picked out the biggest one. The does moved closer to the middle of the field getting as close as they probably would get. They must have been about 100 yards. I prepared for the shot and :mg: the CVA Accura let some smoke out. Both deer ran across the field but one slowed then did a flip and piled up. :upthumb:
