2016 ELK update thread!

It was a great hunt ... We packed a lot of adventure into a single day.

Well, here we go ... should be a good trip. Too short, for sure. But it only took 1 day last year.

Can I get that lucky again? We\'ll see.

I guess you can get that lucky again.... or maybe you\'re just good! :)

You hunt a new area twice, one day each time, and shoot two elk.

Yeah, not getting a lot of scouting done (which was the plan last year and this) .... instead, just packing!

that looks like some rough country, bet yall are sore today

Not bad ... I think pretty good, really, for 49. A pack that holds weight well makes a great difference, eh Brad?

Im sore somewhat today

The first trip out I packed a front quarter lashed to my small daypack with no waist belt. OUCH!

The second trip I used my Kelty Cache Hauler which was awesome.
But having a 80lb pack on and navigating those deadfalls were the killer

There were times we walked on downed trees for 30-40 ft and some of the ones we crawled over were waist high.

Not sure how anyone can train for that kind of workout!

Way to go John and Brad!

I am back from our trip. I\'ll be posting the story as I get a chance.

I don\'t think I congratulated John and Brad other that between Brad and I on InReach
so congratulations John for a freezer full of meat and to Brad for being with John when
he killed his bull... :upthumb:  :upthumb:
