After a miss...

Yep, 4 shots from a muzzleloader as the deer actually walked closer to me, confused, I think, by the echos in the trees. I have no idea how that happened ...

I have witnessed that too. ML \'booms\' dont seem to bother elk/deer.
I believe they think its thunder

That and lead chunk tearing trees/ground up on opposite side of boom. With 4 shots least you were hidden out of sight in smoke for a while :D

I hate to tell the whole truth about that \"hunt\" ... but I wasn\'t far away ... and the deer had company ... and I was never busted.

At one point the deer was standing 5 yards from my stand as I reloaded! (And cussed!)

I think my buddy must\'ve replaced my powder with firecrackers or something.

Good idea about calling to see if you can stop the elk of have it return. Last year, after my mmmmmisssss, I was kinda unhappy with myself the bull kind of just wandered off, not knowing what was going on.
With my \"whitetail hunter\" mentality, I never even thought about giving a call, even though I had read about it several times.

Oh yeah, with this mmmmissss, I spent some time digging the arrow out of a tree, did not have to worry about if I hit him or not.

I found my first arrow miss 3 years after the actual miss!

shot fired: 2008

arrow found: 2011

no lie. crazy.
