Alaska Gear List

I layed out pretty much all of my Alaska clothes and boots last night.
Forgot to include my lightweight rain pants and camp shoes

All of this weighs in at 42lbs

Those damn A-packs ... how do you consume them?

The overall choices are limited at best, but that big ol\' cookie in the APack is to die for!
Havent found a dehy meal with a cookie in it yet :)

Silly question Brad, but I see a lot of wool in there. Any concerns with rain and getting wet? I know wool has been all the craze lately, but it also seems to take much longer to dry than other materials. Just curious!

Brad has rain gear on his list. As for the wool it is still warm even when wet. My upper layers are all wool.

Yeah. Wool is the thing for Alaska.

It keeps you warm even when wet.
Wool will retain between 80-85% heat (depending on how wet one is) of body heat.
It is flame resistant
Very quiet

Makes sense. I guess it\'s a give and take no matter what you use. Either dries fast, but doesn\'t keep you as warm when wet or vice versa.

I havent ever wore the heavy and bulky outer wear wool but have used wool as a next to skin base layer for a long time... If you do sweat (as I do) it will still keep you warm even though you have a damp next to skin base layer... :upthumb: :upthumb:
