5 pins set at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60. Most of my practicing is done at odd distances so I am always shooting in \"between\" my pins. This gives me a good idea how much drop my arrow has and is more likely what I am gonna encounter for a shot
For years I used multiple sideways mounted pins at 20,30,40 and the pins always cover up the animal.
The last 5 years I switched to a single pin sight (Montana Black Gold ascent). I set 20,30,40,50,60 marks on the tape and can dial it to what ever I want. If your target is 37 you can dial it to 37 !
Still yet I like to keep it much simpler and while elk hunting my pin is set at 30. That way I\'m good out to 40. You shoot all summer and get used to where the single pin shoots. If your target is 20 you aim a couple inches low and if your target is 40 I simply aim a couple inches high and the arrow falls right into where you want it.
No more guessing which pin or by accident picking the wrong pin under stress and pressure !!
Best of all you can see the animal clearly through your sight window now !! No more pin clutter !
