EXO Mountain Pack

I ran a 2014 last year and these packs are awesome.  Didn't get to rub any blood on it but here is to this year.  Not sure of the functional changes for the newer model but air flow was never an issue last year.

I have had the newer Exo Mountain 3500 Pack and all the accessories in Multicam since late spring and it is great.  I have put several miles in with my Exo 3500 and absolutely love it!  It's light weight, comfort, space, and compression are far superior to what I have used in the past.  Also, don't be fooled with the 3500 description.  I used another company's pack for the last two years and it is said to be a 6000, the Exo pack is roughly the same size with side pouches and lid so it can carry the same amount of gear for 5+ days but weighs less at its base weight and compresses smaller when unloaded!  On a side note, I have spoken with Steve Speck and both he and Lenny are great guys to deal with and the customer service is great!

Great feed back guys! I wish i had one to use starting next Wednesday. I promise i will have one by this time next year!!

Was going to email the boys at EXO as well, but figured you guys could chime in on my question too.  I'm currently working with the military on potentially updating some special ops packs.  They're currently utilized 6000 cu-in mystery ranch packs weighing in at 10 lbs 8 oz empty...so their biggest complaint is weight!  When I heard about this I immediately thought about an EXO 5500.  The only concern I have is the protection the pack provides against your back.  Sometimes these guys are running around with metal equipment cases that would create significant discomfort if the pack doesn't have adequate padding/solid plate against your back.  Any input would be appreciated.
I'm no pack expert, but I'd look at the Exo or Kifaru.

I still plan on getting one of these packs ( I'm sure I'll probably win the one they are giving away... I can dreamwould you go with the 3500 or the 5500? Will the 5500 compress down for day hunts?

I have the 5500 and it compresses down for day hunts quite nicely. For the extra little weight, I'd rather have the bigger pack than not have it and come up short.

I saw a guy at Sportsmen's the other night handling an Eberlestock...and wanted to say something to him, but didn't.  Those things might be durable...but weigh a ton...poor guy.

My hubby is a pack guru and has many different brands.  I suppose if i'm going to be out hunting with him I might need to look into an EXO rather than the little badlands thing i have.  It's real cute though with the pink skull. ;)

I just spent 5 days in the Sawtooths with my REI Crestrail 70, then followed it up with 3 days deer hunting with a brand new EXO 3500.  Those REI packs ride like Cadillacs and the EXO matched it in comfort.  I've carried 60+ pounds in both.

The EXOs have a combination of simplicity and detail that's tough to come by in hunting packs.  I'm excited to see how it carries some meat.
