I posted a few trail camera photos under someone else's post about trail camera photos. This post is a follow up report-success story. My nephew shot this bull at about 11:30 on Idaho archery opening day, Aug. 30th. He sat my most active wallow tree stand. He had originally found this meadow full of wallows two years ago during my son's rifle hunt. We spent the rest of opening weekend packing!

Well, after logging about 42 hours in my tree stands, I finally got it done Thursday evening. This is definitely not the biggest bull in the woods, but he's my first archery elk and I'm thrilled with him! My nephew had to go to Montana this weekend and my hunting buddy couldn't get out of work. I decided to go hunt solo, I know, not the smartest thing to do. Any way I got this bull around 6:00 PM Thursday night. I skinned, quartered, and packed out the back straps, tenderloins, and some neck/rib meat that night. A few text messages and phone calls on the way out and help was on the way. We packed the head, front shoulders, and hind quarters out on Friday. Many thanks to my friend Tom and nephew Darrin!
