Congrats on the Bull.

Back at the ATV with load number 2.

We did it all in 2 trips.

First trip: bone-in hind quarters.

Second trip: de-boned front quarters + cape and head.

There was no way to get a horse anywhere near this spot. The nearest spot to get a trailer was 5-6 miles. (The ATV was able to get much closer) ... and the deadfall was in the \"From Hell\" category.

Ha! You should\'ve seen my daypack from Saturday. I put a hindquarter on it and made it about a 1/4 mile ... could. not. go. on.

This old Cabelas Alaskan frame was a serious upgrade!

But, you\'re right. I do think it\'s time for me to get a big boy pack, especially if I hunt this spot again. It is a no-go for horses in this area due to several factors.

Congratulations John!

It\'s not too difficult to repair a broken antler. If you are taking it to a taxidermist to be mounted or to have him do a European then he can do it but if you are doing it yourself the antler is an easy fix.

Well done John. I had a similar feeling when I approached my bill solo. Took my 3 hrs to quarter him by myself. As for a better pack, I highly recommend Exo mountain gear. Just bought one and it handled 100+ lbs on my sheep pack out very well.
