This is how crappy it was driving to some of my spots. The video didn\'t come out well and it doesn\'t give a good picture, but MAN it\'s bumpy.

Top of the burn.

Congratulations! Your hunt is an inspiration to us all.

It adds much more to the story when you include your \"ethical\" decisions during your hunt. Thank you for sharing.

Great elk Dan! Always nice when hard work and prep pays off - Congrats!

Thank you, Roman!
Now I am hoping I am able to pull off a nice mule deer like some mule deer master I know ;)

Thank you, ma\'am! :D
Now it\'s your turn. :upthumb:

I was suppose to go dove hunting today, but at 7:32 this morning I decided I wanted to race out to Oklahoma and hang cameras.

That way it can soak for 14 days before opening season. I can check them before opening day and pick a spot to increase my chances.

Then I\'ll move them more once the season starts.

I\'m so fired up.

8 more days.....

Well less now :D

About this time next Wednesday, I\'ll be in camp and preparing for Thursday morning :D

AHHHHH

Well all, I am back from my Oklahoma opener trip. I had two goals for this trip.
Build a few blinds and set up 6 cameras in spots I had pre-selected.

Saturday I got 2 blinds build and 2 cameras hung. I would have had more, but I spent most of my time looking for my lost range finder :downthumb:
I saw a few does, but nothing was in range.

I did however get into some turkeys.....
I saw them far out and ended up sneaking up to TEN YARDS. I figure there were at least 30 to 40 birds and 3 toms that had beards DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. I came to full draw, but there were too many hens surround the big boys.... I couldn\'t ethically take the shot without possibly injuring or killing the wrong bird.... TURKEYS WIN AGAIN.

Today was very..... WET!!!! It started raining around 3AM and didn\'t quit until around 11. I stayed in it the whole time....

I hung my final 4 cameras and scouted some great new areas that I had been meaning to look at. The rain was perfect for me quietly getting in and keeping my scent down.

A few test go pro vids below.

I am leaving this Thursday evening to take my buddy and his two sons on his first ever elk trip.

Talk about the blind leading the blind.
It\'s the same unit I bow hunted in, so I should be able to get him into elk.

I\'ll do the calling and hopefully we can put this all together!

I will take lots of videos and pictures! Hopefully some hero shots and a happy dad with his two proud sons! :upthumb:

Have fun Dan! I\'m looking forward to hearing your report and what you find different between hunting them with a gun and a bow.

Be safe, have fun and good luck....

You do know when I say \"good luck\" that I really mean the each of us make our on good luck... :D :D

This will be interesting. I am putting a lot of pressure on myself to get him into elk!
He just needs to shoot straight! :mg:
